Stonehenge Beneath the Waters of Lake Michigan →
robot-heart: guy: In a surprisingly under-reported story from 2007, Mark Holley, a professor of underwater archaeology at Northwestern Michigan College, discovered a series of stones – some of them arranged in a circle and one of which seemed to show carvings of a mastodon – 40-feet beneath the surface waters of Lake Michigan. Not only is the story interesting the sonar images are amazing.

You Are Being Lied To About Pirates →
dalasverdugo: kateoplis: “In 1991, the government of Somalia - in the Horn of Africa - collapsed. Its nine million people have been teetering on starvation ever since - and many of the ugliest forces in the Western world have seen this as a great opportunity to steal the country’s food supply and dump our nuclear waste in their seas. Yes: nuclear waste. As soon as the government was gone,...

Emotional
After a day of resistors, ohms, and existential thought my head was swimming. By chance, a pre-ordained chance? I came across this song. Solo le pido a dios. I only ask of God. I am not religious, but this song almost brought me to tears. First I heard it in Spanish and only understood a few words here and there. Then I translated it. And then I found a translated version. Sólo le pido a Dios I...

My Social Site History
I am interested in social sites because I avoided them as long as I could. When I was in middle school, the internet was viewed as a game of anonymity. My friends would log into chat rooms and be whoever they wanted. The fun was in believing the other people were honest and you alone were lying, but users soon realized everyone was lying. When I was in high school, AIM became an everyday activity....

DisLiking the Like system
That is precisely why I love tumblr, it has an impersonal-personal connection. Reblogging is the head nod of conversation. Silent poetic acceptance and agreeance. shutupinternet: I love the Tumblr platform so I think it’s important to be critical of it. I’d be hard pressed to find a feature that has more flaws than the Like system. I realize that Liking is optional, that the ability to reblog...

That poem has some good points, and is well worded, but perhaps ends too religious for my taste. But that quote is perfect for me… I wonder the same thing.
